    DIY Wildflower Crown Session!

When you have a canvas this cute and still willing to pose a little you take advantage of it (but not too much or they get burnt out and won’t “cheese,” anymore.) I was feeling extra this day. So I handmade her wildflower crown from the flowers on our lawn. This little pink one was the second rendition. The first got a little beat up as she kept throwing it off. By the 2nd flower crown she didn’t want to throw it as much. ūüėÄ Children’s photographers have to have patience. They also know you have to find something the child enjoys and let them be them. The best way…

    Maine Lighthouse, Pemaquid

When you think about visiting Maine what’s one of the first things you think about? Lobster. Moose. A Maine lighthouse! Pemaquid Light is one of the most recognizable lighthouses in Maine. I’m ashamed to say it took me 7 years of living in Maine before I made it out there, but I finally did it! The view from the coastline is stunning and worth the trek at least once. Damariscotta is the main town on your way out to the coast and there are several restaurants and little shops to explore there, as well. I personally love Rising Tide Co-op for a quick, DIY, healthy snack and my Avena Botanicals…

Return To Ferry Beach, Maine Summer Destination

After the passing of our dog one of our first family outings was Ferry Beach! It’s a quintessential Maine summer destination. It took me a couple of weeks before I really wanted to get out and have fun. But it got to the point of feeling shut-in and cut-off. I have a tendency to be a bit of an introvert anyway. Sometimes I really have to push myself out. Even though it was an overcast, breezy day we decided to try the famed Maine beach again because there wouldn’t be crowds of people. The kids enjoyed it despite the gray skies. There were a few sparse shells, loads of seaweed…

    Naples, Maine Farmer’s Market

Right next to the Naples Fire Department Now this is my kinda thing! I love a good farmer’s market, and this one is literally just getting off the ground. It’ll be taking place every Sunday from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M. at 1074 Roosevelt Trail in Naples, Maine! Local organizer, Bob, told me that the plan is to have the famer’s market every year from spring through fall along with possible¬†agricultural fairs and cook-offs!¬† Don’t these look delicious? I’m not eating tomatoes right now because I’ve currently eliminated nightshades to see how they affect me, but I was tempted. The vendor even had lemon boy’s, a yellow, low-acid tomatoes…

On Euthanizing a Beloved Fur Baby and Self-Doubt

I apologize for not getting back here sooner. The summer got away from me. Our dear fur baby, Sienna began getting sick, losing weight and eventually we made the extremely hard decision to euthanize her. I say hard because you always wrestle with self-doubt in these situations. Could I have done more? Is it the right time? Did I wait too long? It’s tough but in the end she went downhill within a matter of days. Her quality of life was no longer there. She was our loving girl until the very end. I’m crying as I write this. But In sharing there is a catharsis, and I want to…

    MAINE Apple Picking

After moving south we had to find a new Maine apple orchard to visit for our annual apple picking. Our first stop was Randall Orchards in Standish, Maine. The grounds are beautiful, and the owners are friendly! If you’re visiting Maine in the early fall I highly suggest checking out the local orchards for a fun outdoor adventure. My little guy had a blast jumping for the apples and ripping them off. Haha. Not only are the grounds lovely in the fall, but they’re dreamy in the spring, too. Look at all these blossoms! My littlest was a touch sick here, but still well enough to enjoy some sunshine! The…

Maine Maple Weekend – Take Two

Many sugar shacks are open for Maine Maple Weekend. Some are only open on Maine Maple Sunday. So as a local, we compared the two days. If you’re most concerned with getting some tasty maple products without any added attractions, Saturday is your day. However, not all sugar shacks are open on Saturday. Check before you go out. Saturday is the day to get in and get out without too much hassle or crowds. However if you want to do the pancake breakfasts, see the live music, chainsaw artists and other local fare added on actual Maine Maple SUNDAY then that’s the day to go. It’s very much an event!…

Consider This – Mommy & Me Photo Sessions

May & Mother’s Day are just a few short weeks away which means Mommy & Me photo sessions will be everywhere. Preparing for a Mommy & Me photo session is a lot like prepping for any small trip with littles. There are a couple of other things to consider, too. The basics every mom knows, naps, snacks and knick-knacks! Make sure your littles are well rested (naps beforehand if your sesh is later in the day) and have a small amount of snacks on hand for any hungry bellies. Bring a favorite small toy to enjoy in case they’re uninterested in participating right away. Kids can be shy especially in…

Consider This – What Should We Wear For Our Family Photos?

What should we wear for our family photo session? Every photographer encounters this question from clients, all the time. I ask my clients to steer clear of large swaths of busy prints and everyone in the same color. Although if that’s your thang, I’ll still take your picture! Try to go with the items your family is comfortable in. Just formalize them a little, and take the color wheel into consideration. What do I mean when I say this? So below is an example of color theory. ¬†The color wheel is a representation of the primary (red, blue, yellow), secondary (green, orange, purple) and tertiary colors.¬† Secondary colors are combos…

Maine Maple Sunday – Balsam Ridge, Raymond, Maine

It’s the weekend of Maine Maple Sunday! So we ventured out early in the weekend on Saturday while we had company in town. It was fun! We went not too far down the road to Balsam Ridge, a Christmas tree farm with a heaping side of maple syrup! Shop local! Balsam Ridge began as a Christmas tree farm. The owners, Sharon and Dewey decided to add in maple syrup to promote the tree farm. However, I think it’s become quite the attraction on its own! When we pulled up today there were people taking pictures with their sign on the side of Egypt Rd. The owners were quite knowledgeable and…
